Es sieht momentan so aus als wäre in der Megaupload-Sache durch das FBI mit einem Trojaner ermittelt worden. Es wurden Skype Nachrichten und E-Mails abgeschnorchelt, bei Skype wurden aber keine Daten abgefragt.

Besonder krass:

Some of the records go back nearly five years, to MegaUpload’s earliest days as a cyberlocker service–even though Skype says “IM history messages will be stored for a maximum of 30 days” and the criminal investigation didn’t begin until a few months ago.  [cnet]

Wie kann das denn sein?

Man sieht: “Terrristen nutzen Skype!” und “Wir setzen Trojaner nur gegen Terroristen ein!”. Check.

Die Firma um MegaUpload und Kimble hatte vor eine Musikplattform zu gründen:

[...] a site that will soon allow artists to sell their creations directly to consumers while allowing artists to keep 90 percent of earnings[...]

In other words, another entry into the very crowded DIY space.  But there’s a lot more to this story.  Instead of charging artists, Schmitz wants to pay artists – even for free downloads.[1]

Also im Grunde das durchaus profitable System von MegaUpload, nur halt (wahrscheinlich) legal und .zeitgemäßer. MegaBox hatte auch schon einige Partner.Z.B. 7digital, Gracenote, Rovi und Amazon.

Man könnte jetzt annehmen, dass einige Major Labels die Behörden zum take down von Megaupload gedrängt haben könnten. Immerhin ist MegaBox ein direkter Angriff auf ihre Existenz gewesen… Mitleid mit Kimble muss man wohl trotzdem nicht entwickeln. :)
